Trumps sword of Damocles
…and with great fortune and power comes also great danger…!
Now I have to put a disclaimer upfront. You see, I’m not politically active per se. But I have a keen interest in what is happening in the world of politics. I’m a cartoonist and I come from Switzerland. That means I see the funny side of politics and I can stay neutral.
With that out of the way I have to bring your attention to this cartoon. There is quite a kerfuffle happening over in the US of A. As I’m writing this the head clown has shut down the joint and doesn’t want to re open it until he gets it his way. By that I mean his beloved wall, or whatever one would like to call it.
From the outside looking in, it is an ass move. What can I say? To me with an untrained eye, this is bullying. Bullying at its finest. I mean, if my boss comes up to me and tells me I’m off the payroll until someone agrees to get the money from someone else to buy another yacht. Lucky me I don’t have such a boss. Or do I?
It is tough for those who have no say in this and they miss out on pay. Yet I’m here complaining that someone doesn’t get paid, whereas here I am, as an artist, with little pay. That’s another story. I need to concentrate here.
This sort of thing has happened in the past, but not to such extend. And here we are with no end in sight. It might take years and years to get the place reopened. Who knows what’s happening in between those tiny, orange coloured ears of that head monkey.
But I got to get away from this palaver. I draw cartoons and that’s what I do good. Do, as for political cartoons and without a political orientation, how do I choose a topic? Easy, I listen. Do I care who is in charge? No! To me they are all clowns and egocentric tossers. You heard it here first.
What I do with political cartoons is to hold up a mirror to what I hear, what I see and a healthy dose giggles. After all you’d cry if you take it too serious.
Now lets see how those twitter birds can do to bring down the sword of Damocles.
