Aragon MotoGP cartoon with Marc Marquez crashing
Can Marc Marquez still win the MotoGP championship after his crash at the Aragon round? Most likely not. He managed to bin it now for the fifth time this season. Surely he won’t be able to make up for the lost points. The main contenders are Rossi and Lorenzo. But how is Marquez keeping his trademark smile?
I had my thoughts about that. It can’t be easy, but with a device and a screw behind his head, it should be possible. From time to time you just have to tighten it. You have to admit, every time you see Marc Marquez, he has the biggest smile. But I have a feeling this trademark smile is wearing thin. Stacking fife times in one season is pretty bad. He is the current world champion and people expected more consistency from him.
We will have a new world champion soon. Valentino Rossi is the favourite to take the crown. Jorge Lorenzo is a close second and eager to retake the crown. He is a multiple world champion himself. And then you have Valentino Rossi a nine time world champion. It would be amazing if he manages to regain a tenth crown. It would give him a god like status in the motorcycle racing world. He is already up there with the best of the best. He is also one of the oldest racers in the field. But he is still good enough to play with the young whipper snappers.
Back to the race in Aragon. Lorenzo started the race in second position Marc Marquez started from pole. But Jorge lead into turn one and never looked back. Rossi started in sixth and remained there for a while. Slowly he made his way though the field and slotted in behind Dani Pedrosa. As we know now, Marc watched the rest of the race from the sidelines half way through the second lap. Surprisingly Rossi and Pedrosa had a good old dogfight towards the latter stages of the race. I was surprised by Danis fighting spirit. Rossi overtook him and straight away Dani cut back at him and remained in second. He was very impressive.
The final order was Lorenzo, Pedrosa, Rossi. Or own Jack Miller started 20th and ended up 19th. No points for his effort.
There you go. More MotoGP news in a fortnight.
