Casey Stoner returning to Ducati?

Is Casey Stoner returning to Ducati? You’re right, this is a good question. I can’t really answer this. Ducati are the only ones who know the answer. Maybe Casey knows as well. At this stage it is only as a test rider for the famous Italian motorcycle brand. Ducati think he can do it and be competitive. But things change. Casey is getting older and the competition is young and hungry. Do I think it’s a good idea? That again is hard to answer. There are very few who made it back and were successful. Troy Bayliss had a shot at it and wasn’t all that great. You need that hunger to drive you to the front.

Ducati certainly would like Casey to return. After all he’s one of their best riders in MotoGP. He gave Ducati a world title. I’m sure other did to in the past, but I’m not a history book and remember all of them. You might have to google it. It will be certainly interesting to see what Casey Stoner can do with a Ducati. I’m certain he will be valuable to Ducati. At the moment Ducati is a bit hit or miss. They had great success at Phillip Island with Iannone and Dovisioso. And if we’re lucky we can witness Stoner making a return to the Island as a wildcard entry.

What is a wildcard entry? It is an exception to the regular riders. Often its for an injured rider or a young emerging talent of the host country who provides a wildcard rider. Sometimes towards the end of a racing season a rider from a lower class moves into a higher class. These are rider who don’t complete a full season. Hope I gave you enough to ponder.

Personally I look forward to Casey’s return. I also hope that Ducati can deliver and don’t make him a laughing stock for all the haters.
