More cartoons about the World Super Bikes at the Island. The first cartoon is a bit of a rush job. What happened was that Troy Bayliss, a three time World Super Bike champion was asked to ride as a wildcard for injured Davide Giugliano.
A wildcard rider is usually only for one race. It is speculated that Troy might race for up to three races. I doubt that. I sketched something up for Australian Motorcycle News (AMCN) and the editor liked it. So I sat down and finished it after feeding the goats.
I headed to Phillip Island to do some volunteer work as a track marshall. It’s all a lot of fun and I get to meet a lot new and interesting people. Although it was very hot that weekend. At the end I got my cartoon signed by Troy Bayliss. That was tops!
While I was at the Island I sketched another cartoon up. I just can’t keep my pencils at home. They have to come with me all the time and with a piece of paper at hand, I sketch all the time. I made this cartoon because Troy Bayliss was blistering his tires on the Ducati.
I always wanted to draw a cartoon motorcycle with its tires melting. Finally! It looks a bit like a vulcanised fondue.
All in all the weekend was great. I got to see the races up close. I enjoyed every bit of it. Now I’m buggered and need to catch up with sleep. I have more soon.
