Texas round of MotoGP, more drama for Ducati

Texas, the latest round of MotoGP racing. It was Marc Marquez’ race. Since they returned to Austin, Texas, Marquez has won all races in the premier class. It was no change this morning either. He went into the lead early on and never looked back. Then all the riders fell. It wasn’t really who wins, that was clear, it was more like, who doesn’t bin it? Rossi was one of them that fell. All by himself.

We had other go down as well. But the circuit in Texas is designed that you can remount and rejoin the race. Another high profile faller was Andrea Dovizioso. He got t-boned by Dani Pedrosa. Dani was well out of control when he hit Dovi’s Ducati. That doesn’t mean it was less dramatic. Dovizioso was taken out in the last race in Argentina by his team mate. This one was at least not in the last corner. Dovizioso was lucky not to sustain more serious injuries. Dani’s bike hit the Ducati just behind Dovi’s leg. It must have been so frustrating. Dovi has been removed from two successive races. Both times he was in a podium position. Dani was a true sportsman and checked if Andrea was okay. He then remounted his Honda and continued for a bit, only to retire a short time later.

After the race Dani went into Andreas’ garage to apologise. That was a nice gesture.

But for Andrea Dovizioso it must have felt like he has a target on his back. You can understand to get taken out once. However, in two consecutive races? That’s more than bad luck. I hope he is back on the horse again in two weeks time and this time he finishes the race in a good position. The Ducati shows some real race strength.

Again, join me in a couple of weeks time for more cartoon mayhem on two wheels.
